Hardware Quality Assurance

The DSN Hardware Quality Assurance (HQA) group supports the Interplanetary Network and Information Systems Directorate (IPN-ISD), specifically with Deep Space Network (DSN) related hardware tasks.

Typically, all new work evolves from Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), submitted to and approved by the CCB (Configuration Change Board), which then become Engineering Change Orders ECOs). Each ECO, with hardware components will be designed, fabricated, and assembled into ECO "kits" often referred to as Modkits (because they result in modifications to the original design).

The HQA Group ensures that each Modkit meets applicable Quality Assurance requirements and Workmanship Standards.
